Welcome back Mustangs and a very warm welcome to our new Mustangs! We are excited to have all of you here at Piñon and are looking forward to another amazing year of learning and growth! Our theme this year is “Inspire, Engage, and Prepare”. We will continue to partner with the Josh Stevens Foundation (joshstevensfoundation.org) in Henderson, Nevada. This year the student spirit wear t-shirts are a beautiful tie-dye. Our INCREDIBLE PTO is purchasing a Be Kind t-shirt for every student again this year! Thank you!!
Piñon families, we appreciate your continued support and encouragement in challenging our students to Be Kind, Safe, Respectful, Responsible and Ready to Learn at school, home, and in the community.
PHES will be using a research based social emotional learning (SEL) program called Second Step this year. Students from kindergarten through fifth grade will learn to recognize and manage emotions, have empathy for others, maintain cooperative relationships, and make responsible decisions. After the lesson, classroom teachers continue reinforcing the concept throughout the week. Students will have a homework assignment to share with parents explaining what they are learning as well as an activity to complete. Students will bring the completed and signed homework back to their teacher.
Be Kind T-shirts
If you traveled this summer and have photos of your students in their Be Kind t-shirt, please send them in to be posted on the Be Kind Board. Please remember to pack your “Be Kind” shirt if you are doing any travelling or fun activities. Take a picture and send it to school or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
