School History

Piñon Hills Elementary school was established in July of 2006. The home of the Mighty Mustangs opened as a kindergarten through sixth grade elementary school, with a population of 450 students who were anxious to start a new year and a new chapter in the Carson Valley. Nancy Bryant was the school’s first principal, and since then PHES has had two other principals, including our current principal Mr. Jason Reid.  Mr. Reid began his journey at PHES in 2012. In the fall of 2016, we were fortunate to have Mr. Cade Baligad join the team as the new vice principal at PHES.

Since Piñon Hills opened its doors, there have been several changes to the school such as a new construction addition which added the entire D Hall wing in 2011. Beginning in 2015, the sixth graders moved to the middle school, making PHES a kindergarten through fifth grade elementary school. Despite a few changes over the years, there are still six of the original staff members, and Piñon Hills Elementary continues to be one of the strongest schools in the district with amazing families, students, and staff!
